When bride-to-be Charise came to see me, I was pleased to hear that she wanted her bridesmaids to wear colours and styles that suited them, instead of prescribing a certain colour scheme or dress style for them. She said she wanted everyone to look their best on the day. Same, girl, same!
For herself, she knew what colours she liked to wear, but found that the traditional "seasons" system of colour analysis left her at a bit of a loss, as it didn't seem that any one of the seasons worked for her.
After draping her, I concluded that her colouring is warm but "greyed" or "smoky" instead of toasted, in other words the least warm of all the warm palettes.
She also has a fair amount of pink in her skin, courtesy of her Scottish heritage, as well as hazel/green eyes and dark ash blonde hair, which means her signature colours are the pinks, purples and burgundies as well as the olive greens in her swatch, and her best neutrals are warm greys, burgundies and plummy chocolate brown.
When I asked about the colour of her dress, I was again pleasantly surprised! Instead of a winter white or ivory, which normally suit warm toned skins, she had picked a white dress. This is an excellent choice for her, because it suits the whites of her eyes the best. Cream or ivory would have made her eyes look dull and her smile less happy.
Charise used to dye her hair blonde, but wanted to go back to her natural dark blonde/ash brown colour because she is a swimming instructor and the chlorine is playing havoc with her hair. Turns out that the darker hair colour really makes her eyes "pop" and will work beautifully with her wedding colours.
We picked cooler pink makeup colours for her lips and cheeks instead of warm/orange-based colours, and brown/mauve based eye shadow.
She is going to be a beautiful, confident bride and I cannot wait to see the photos!
